50

different pressure washers in Kärcher’s Home & Garden range

Context

In a store, a specialist salesperson asks a few simple questions. Online, the customer is left alone with long product lists and specification sheets.

Kärcher offers 50 different pressure washers in its Home & Garden range, so customers can find a product that fits their needs and budget. The flip side is that choosing one can quickly become overwhelming and confusing, especially for first-time buyers who don’t know what technical specifications like pressure in bar or area performance in m²/h mean for their everyday use.

Approach

Instead of starting from the products, it starts from the customer.

The product finder brings a salesperson’s expert advice online. After choosing between the Home & Garden and Professional ranges, the user is guided through a short series of visual questions written in everyday language.

Each answer is illustrated with a photograph of a real-life situation, so users can recognise their own needs without needing technical knowledge.

Result

The finder narrows down to a few suitable models, then recommends one.

The shortlisted models can be compared side by side by price, features, applications, reviews and accessories. The final recommendation presents the chosen pressure washer together with matching accessories and cleaning agents, and the user can buy it directly or restart the process.
